To overcome these challenges, our development team set out to rebuild the system from the ground up. We chose to harness the flexibility of Open Atrium as the foundation, pairing it with a modern frontend experience tailored to user needs. The result was not just a refreshed intranet, but a powerful, integrated tool that brought people and processes together in a way that felt intuitive and future-ready.

Rodem's leadership recognized the limitations of their old Open Atrium deployment. While it had served them well for years, the system lacked modern UI/UX elements, integration components, and real-time collaboration capabilities that modern teams need. Departments had resorted to isolated solutions in order to cope, leading to redundant effort and less productivity.

Our development team embarked on the mission of revamping Rodem's internal platform—proving the essence of Open Atrium while delivering contemporary frontend technologies and more intelligent integration possibilities. What emerged was a robust, reengineered intranet that revitalized interdepartmental collaboration.

More Than An Intranet : A productive power platform

We didn't recreate - we reimagined. The new Rodem Intranet platform is now a command center for internal communications and knowledge sharing. The new interface offers:

  • Event and Announcement Management : A simple-to-use interface to track upcoming company events and deadlines.
  • Knowledge Center : A virtual repository that holds industry research, company policies, and shared documents.
  • Departmental Dashboards : Individual pages for HR, Safety, Engineering, Sales & Marketing, Finance, IT, and Supply Chain where they can post news and documents pertaining to their department.
  • News Hub : A company-prominent feed of company news, industry trends, and internal announcements accessible by all.

Into the Solution Space : Where Vision Meets Execution

As with all successful interactions, this began with deep discovery. A number of working sessions with Rodem's stakeholders allowed us to understand their operational minutiae, departmental needs, and overall business goals. On top of Open Atrium, we provided customized enhancements to better fit Rodem's evolving workflows. 

Our approach was intelligent customization. We employed Drupal modules for emulating backend functionality and React JS for offering a modern, adaptive user interface. Implementing a custom calendar module and other feature integrations were prioritized in accordance with instant input from Rodem teams through continuous demo sessions.

Idea to launch with caution, the project had a collaborative and iterative development process. Regular planning sessions and incremental demos kept Rodem's stakeholders actively involved in real-time, enabling feedback and features of the platform to be continually optimized.
